GENETICS and G3: Genes|Genomes|Genetics are pleased to announce two new Senior Editors: Meera Sundaram and Brian Oliver.
GENETICS
Meera Sundaram
Meera Sundaram is a Professor of Genetics at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. She received her BA in Biology from Mount Holyoke College and her PhD in Molecular Biology from Princeton University, and she did postdoctoral training at the University of Colorado, Boulder before starting her own lab at UPenn in 1997. Her lab uses C. elegans to study mechanisms that specify cell fates and generate complex cell shapes during tubulogenesis. In particular, her recent work has focused on contributions of EGF-Ras-ERK signaling, a membrane fusogen, and a lipid and glycoprotein-rich apical extracellular matrix in shaping tube lumens. Dr. Sundaram has served previously as an associate editor for GENETICS, in the Developmental and Behavioral Genetics section, and as a section editor for Wormbook.
G3: Genes|Genomes|Genetics
Brian Oliver
Brian Oliver is a Drosophilist and Chief of the section of Developmental Genomics at the NIDDK in Bethesda, Maryland, where he had been since 1995. He received his PhD in Genetics from Case Western Reserve University where he worked on the Drosophila germline in the Antony Mahowald Laboratory from 1985-1988. He worked on Drosophila sex determination as a Jane Coffin Childs Fellow in the Bruce Baker Laboratory at Stanford from 1988-1991. From 1992-1995, he split time between Aix-Marseille and Geneva. He continues to focus on the germline and sex determination and differentiation.
